Ktima Stergiou is a modern viticultural effort, which aims to highlight the historic vineyard of Kastoria and the creation of special wines directly related to the microclimate of the region.
In the selected soils of the Macedonian land at the foot of Mount Vitsi, on the southern slope opposite the lake of Kastoria and at an altitude of 680m. is the vineyard of the Stergiou family which is a model of organic viticulture, in accordance with current international trends for respect for humans, consumers and the environment.
The vineyard extends over an area of 60 acres in Metamorfosi, Kastoria at an altitude of 680 meters. The soils are sandy - sandy-clay with excellent drainage. The climate in the area is semi-continental with snowfall and hot, dry summers with cool nights. The aura of Lake Kastoria strongly influences the microclimate of the vineyard.
The very low temperatures of winter with rain and snowfall but also the mild dry summer characterize the climatic conditions of the area.
The vineyard is linear (1.00X 2.30 m) and covers 60 acres with the following varietal composition: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Xinomavro, and Riesling.
